Now only One 300x600 Google AdSense Unit Allowed on Each Page

Posted by Unknown at 23:07

Just under one month ago, Google team released a gigantic Ad Format - 300x600. This new ad format got two sided response from the publishers because there is no need to use an enormous Ad Slot for no reason. Furthermore, the size of this ad Slot is bigger than other Ad units. This is the reason why Google team has announced a change in their policy. Now publishers can only place one 300x600 size ad unit on each page. To be honest, we were well aware that this Ad slot would not last so long because Google Page Layout Algorithm doesn’t allow too many ads above the fold, so this could be the reason, why publishers can only place one 300x600 size ad slot per page.

What would happen if a publisher place three 300x600 ad slots. It’s quite obvious that there would be no room for content. Even if a person does some modifications in his theme then still it’s impossible to have a user-friendly experience with such large bunch of advertisements.

Google wrote,

Because this new format is larger than all our other ad units, we want to help ensure a balance between content and ads across publisher sites. With this in mind, going forward, publishers will be permitted to place a maximum of one 300x600 ad unit on each page. If you’ve placed more than one 300x600 ad unit per page on your site, we ask that you remove any additional ad units by Jan 10, 2013. We’ll also be sending email notifications shortly to affected publishers, asking them to make this update.

If any publisher who is using more than one 300x600 ad slot on each page then he should remove any additional ad slots till January 10, 2013. After the deadline, Google will send notifications to affected published asking them to make changes in their site. If anyone failed to fulfill all the requirements, then Google has the rights to cancel (Ban) their account, so brave and remove the ad slot as soon as possible.

This doesn’t mean that publishers can only place one ad unit per page. The number of ads units still remains the same (three per page), so it is possible to place one 300x600 side ad slot and up to two other sizes on a page. The change in the policy is to provide mutual benefits to both Publishers and advertisers.

From The Editor’s Desk:
By adding a 300x600 size ad slot to your site it will improve the CTR rate and provides more chances of earning. However, we wouldn’t recommend anyone to use such an enormous ad slot because it could damage user-friendly experience. According to Google, “We’re continuously working to develop new and better sizes that would provide user-friendly experience to your visitors”. We’re also thinking to give it a try. What are your thoughts about the update in Google AdSense policies? Take a lot care till then, Peace, Blessings and Happy Earning.
